Passing
Heard earlier today that my former cat Dillon has died. She came to live with my ex, Chris, and I in 1997 ‘for a few weeks’ while her then-owner was between homes, and never left. Chris and I had her in joint custody even after we split up, then when he left for his world trip a few years ago she was adopted by our friend Liz. Liz has taken her to heart and is obviously devastated by her loss.
Dillon hasn’t been in great health for a while, though she’d turned eighteen years old so that’s perhaps not too surprising, and she’s been a ‘big’ cat for a number of years and has been carrying around a lot of extra weight so that probably hasn’t helped.
So she woke up this morning and couldn’t use her back legs. The vet diagnosed organ failure and said that Liz needed to agree to let her go.
Sad today.
