Guberning*
One thing that no amount of knowing it can prepare you for is the sight of California’s Governor being Arnold Schwarzenegger. I mean, intellectually of course you know he got the job, but in your heart you can’t quite accept the reality.
Until as I did last night you see the local news, which is full of the fact that the state has been operating without a budget for the last couple of months. Then, watching The Terminator himself standing up in front of a bunch of legislators and argue with them just makes you feel that your childhood is dying right there in front of you on the screen.
Seriously: Arnie in a suit with the State seal on the wall behind him talking about stuff that should have been (and in fact was) a West Wing plot.
It’s just wrong.
* As, somehow, is the word ‘gubernatorial’, even though it’s such a great sounding word.
